Lucy is a lawyer who works in a city that over time got extremely corrupt. This led to many cases where the blatantly guilty were let off the hook, sometimes leading to more harm for the victims. But what was she to do as just a lawyer.
One day, when she was too in her feelings, when meeting with opposing counsels for an informal mediation, she asked them “If you or your family was on the other end of this, what would you think should happen to a lawyer who defends such an evil man?” This triggered her ability and caused that person to get strangled to death by themselves. Since they were the only two in the room, she was ultimately blamed for his death even though as far as she was aware she didn’t do anything. She lost her license to practice law, and had to seek office work instead.
One day, she was sitting in a park when she saw some kids beating up another kid. She decided to step in and scold them. “An apology isn’t enough, what do you think will make this right?” In that instant, one kid got kicked in the balls, another got slapped across the face, and the other peed his pants. Again, she was blamed for this, but this time around she knew this must be super natural. She then practiced her ability in her own hearing, and learned that she could enforce people’s sense of justice on themselves.
