To give a good answer to the timeless fiction question: “There are characters here who can manipulate time, why don’t they just win?” Primis has certain rules around time and time-abilities that will never be violated. They are as follows.

  1. Time never truly stops. It always has to flow forward, even if very slowly.

For reasons covered later, in some cases slowing time too much can make it hard to re-speed it up.

  2. There exists two levels of time, vita-time and sphera-time. Vita-time is the constant flow of time that governs iunctra. Sphera-time is the constant flow of time that governs physics and other interactions within a sphera.

Slowing down vita-time makes the target experience time slower, allowing for more thinking time, but punches don’t become stronger/weaker for it. It could be helpful to view thinking as a vita-level process that is beyond just the brain.

Slowing down sphera-time can be done on anyone or anything within a sphera and has an effect on how physics are experienced, but happens at the same “””rate””” as it would normally, no change to how long the target can think.

  3. Just like all other powers in Primis, time abilities can target one individual, everyone within some region of space, or everyone within a sphera. Only one targeting type can be done at a time.

  4. There is no absolute “seeing the future”, you can see the different possibilities but not outright what will happen before it does.

  5. The extent to which sphera-time can be slowed or accelerated is relative to the original base reaction rate of the sphera. This means “as slow as possible” could be 1 second for every 5 in the palace, or 1 year for every second in the palace for different sphera.

  6. Within the palace, there is no vita-time.
